However, the Dutch finally allowed his request on the condition that the coins were arranged diagonally so that their queen’s face was not visible. Pak Tembong could not accept the condition proposed by the Dutch because he thought that it would require a lot of gold coins. Finally, his plan was canceled.

The Sekar Kedhaton complex is a combination of Javanese, Chinese, Portuguese, and Dutch architecture. At that time, many of Pak Tembong’s relations came from these countries. They gave ideas to Pak Tembong for the design of his residence. This building was even occupied by the Dutch army, and Pak Tembong had to exile himself to the Bantul area until his death. This building was also used as the Headquarters of the Indonesian National Army before independence.
