Embung Tambakboyo Yogyakarta
Embung Tambakboyo is a reservoir located in Sleman, Yogyakarta. It is situated between three villages, namely Condongcatur, Maguwo, and Wedomartani. The planning and construction of this reservoir started in 2003 and took 5 years to complete until 2008. With an area of 7.8 hectares and a storage volume of approximately 400,000 m3, Embung Tambakboyo serves as a water reserve and groundwater recharge for the residents of Bantul, Sleman, and Yogyakarta. It also functions as an irrigation facility and a future water supply for the local water utility company (PDAM). However, the reservoir is also commonly used for recreational activities such as fishing, sports, and picnics.
The surrounding area of Embung Tambakboyo has been designed neatly, offering beautiful scenery. Additionally, there are accommodations available near the reservoir for those who are visiting from out of town.
To visit Embung Tambakboyo, the location is easily accessible. It is approximately 1 km north of the northern Ring Road in front of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta. Transportation to the reservoir is convenient, whether you are using a motorcycle or a car.
Directions to Embung Tambakboyo:
1. From the intersection of Universitas Pembangunan Negara (UPN) Condong Catur, head north. If you are coming from Seturan Street, continue straight. However, if you are coming from the west, turn left at the intersection of the UPN Ring Road and continue straight until you reach the first intersection.
2. From the intersection, continue straight until you enter the housing complex where the road changes from asphalt to cobblestone. Keep going straight until you find the sign directing you to Embung Tambakboyo. The sign is on the right side, in the second alley. It is approximately 200 meters from the previous intersection.
3. After finding the sign, turn right. The road will slightly descend. On the left side, there is a homestay. The reservoir is located below the homestay, with a portal in front of it.
